alone together consists of multiple interactive arcade cabinet sculptures designed to invite play, collaboration, and to raise discussions on an individual’s sense of personal history and community. Each sculptural arcade cabinet is functional but constructed in a way to appear as if they are slowly sinking into the ground. This gesture at disappearance seems moot considering the resurgence of “barcades” in most major metroplexes, but preservation efforts for many historical videogames are often on the shoulders of volunteers or fans- leading to “data rot” or the disappearance of original components needed for restoration.
