I’m taking a course in Procedural Animation this summer using the Houdini software suite. With just a few objects and expressions, you can automate stuff like this. Donut explosion.
I’ve spent the last two days giving my studio a much needed cleaning and rearrangement. What used to be me stepping carefully over broken electronics and glass (really) all over the floor has been rectified. Additionally, I decided to open up the space by scraping all the paint off the windows and removing some old drywall. I’ll probably ask Jessica to help me make some curtains just in case I am working on some secret stuff.
I’ll be teaching round 2 of the Multimedia Authoring course at Ohio State University starting Tuesday, really looking forward to it. Not only did the students last quarter crank out some great projects, I was forced to re-learn so many of the skills I’ve forgotten to help them with the projects. I can only imagine what I’ll be re-learning this time.
Last weekend, Jessica and I took a day trip to Conkle’s Hollow in Hocking Hills State Park to do some location scouting, and I put in a request for an after hours permit earlier this week. I just heard back from them earlier today and it looks like the permit will be approved! No fee either! I really didn’t think it would go through, as I specifically proposed filming around midnight in a State Preserve area, where it’s pretty much illegal to go off the path, much less hang around after dark. I’ll be filming a segment for the “Works” section of website 3.0, so keep an eye out for storyboards in the next few days. I just need to scan them. Check the “categories” this post is in for a hint about what is going to be filmed. Both the videos below were shot on the location.
Check out Phantom Tree Productions latest teaser for their new project, The Living Deaf. I’m really hoping to be on the crew for this when it starts full production.
In finalizing mechanical capabilities today on 42 Cuts, a single gear seized and snapped the teeth of of several more. Defeated and depressed, I walked home and watched Starship Troopers in 1080p. I then did several drawings for a new design. 42 Cuts V2.0, here I come.
Finally recovered my blog-writing software, and I’ll be pleased to embed some HD work now that I’m a vimeo plus user…
because I don’t have my sketchbook handy, notes for me.
wormhole which autonomously opens and records imagery, upon interfacing it randomly selects a recorded clip. autonomy is controlled by organic variable, something truly random. ie wind/rain
